Built to solve the last mile of drone-to-CMMS integration.
Stratum Asset Intelligence is the drone-to-CMMS integration platform. It was founded not by a drone operator who noticed a data gap, but by an enterprise solution architect who watched three Maximo drone projects fail for the same reason: the last mile of integration was never defined. That's the problem Stratum solves.
The Problem We Solve
The last mile is where drone programs die.
Enterprises stand up drone inspection programs, buy capture platforms, and already run a mature CMMS — then discover the findings never reach the system of record. A planner retypes a PDF into Maximo by hand, or the report sits in SharePoint until the next audit. The program produced data; the maintenance system never heard about it.
Stratum exists to close that seam as a product, not a service. Any drone platform in. Any CMMS out. We don't fly the drones. We don't replace the CMMS. We build and operate the mapping layer in between — the layer that turns a detection into a structured, asset-tagged work order in your system of record.
Where This Comes From
Enterprise systems heritage first. Drone knowledge as a means.
Enterprise Solution Architecture
20+ years architecting and integrating enterprise systems — Microsoft Dynamics 365, IBM Maximo, SAP EAM, Fiix, and UpKeep among them — across ERP, CMMS, and CRM deployments. We understand the data models, APIs, and failure-code catalogs that run maintenance operations, because we've built the systems the data lives in.
Watched Three Maximo Drone Projects Fail
The founding insight came from the CMMS side, not the sky. On enterprise engagements, drone data kept arriving as PDFs that no integration was ever scoped to consume. Capture was funded; activation was assumed to handle itself. It never did. Stratum is the layer that should have existed.
Drone Fluency — A Means, Not the Identity
FAA Part 107 certification and hands-on knowledge of the inspection stack — thermal, photogrammetry, and the major capture platforms — exist to inform the mapping catalog, not to sell flights. Understanding both sides of the seam is what makes the connector accurate.
FAA Part 107 and specialized drone-inspection coursework completed through Pilot Institute — domain fluency behind the mapping catalog.
Product-First, Platform-Agnostic
Stratum is built as software: neutral on both sides of the seam, with CMMS-native APIs, a proprietary mapping catalog, human-validated triage, and closed-loop feedback. We win by being the trusted layer between categories — owned by neither the drone vendor nor the CMMS vendor.
Our Founder
Justin Birch
Founder & Principal — Stratum Asset Intelligence LLC · Enterprise Solution Architect
Justin brings more than 20 years of enterprise solution architecture to Stratum. His career has been defined not by mastery of any single platform, but by the discipline of understanding how organizations actually operate before a line of configuration is written. In complex ERP, CMMS, and CRM engagements, no two implementations look alike — the software is almost always shaped by years of process decisions, workarounds, and institutional knowledge that never appear in a vendor's documentation. Justin's role has consistently been to surface that complexity, architect around it, and deliver systems that reflect how people actually work.
Before founding Stratum, Justin served as a Solution Architect at MCA Connect, one of Microsoft's premier Dynamics 365 consulting partners — leading implementations where asset-data integrity, system integration, and operational continuity were non-negotiable. Across those engagements he saw the same pattern repeat: drone inspection data arriving as PDFs that no integration was ever scoped to consume. The capture side was funded; the activation side — the last mile into Maximo, SAP PM, or Dynamics 365 — was assumed to handle itself, and never did.
Stratum was built on a straightforward conviction: the gap between a drone inspection and a structured CMMS work order is an integration problem, and integration is what Justin has spent his career solving. His Part 107 certification and drone-inspection fluency are the means — the way he reads both sides of the seam — not the identity of the company. Stratum is the drone-to-CMMS integration platform.
What Drives Us
How we think about the layer
Neutrality
Any drone platform in, any CMMS out. We refuse to compete with the systems on either end of the seam — that neutrality is the product.
Structured Truth
A garbage work order is worse than none. Human-validated triage sits between detection and system of record, and every finding is source-tagged for full auditability.
The Outcome Is a Work Order
A report isn't a deliverable — a completed work order is. We measure ourselves by what lands in the CMMS and closes, not by flights or files.
